It's like a school lunch line or a military mess hall if you've never been here. Everything is a la carte, you walk the line and pick what you want. Simple process and good variety. Quality is a touch above the aforementioned but not a lot. It's obvious they use the standard institutional mass recipe cards. If you like institutional food you'll love it. If you're expecting a five-star table service dining experience then you've come to the wrong house. Do us all a favor though - look ahead and don't hold up the line. We regulars are hungry. Ps: be careful, your eyes will be bigger than your tummy. :-)

We checked in to our resort at myrtle beach & asked the concierge for a southern food recommendation (all my planned stops were closed because it was sunday) she immediately said "k and w...its a chain BUT its really good southern food!" We had just road tripped from ny, so we were looking to take out and relax at our resort....this place was 5 minutes away and was divided into 2 sections....take out and dine in....PERFECT! Placed smelled like STRAIGHT HOME COOKIN! Cafeteria stlye serving, they have all the food sitting behind a glass...sides.....mac n cheese, cream corn, yams, rice, green beans, collard greens and buttered carrots....just to name a few....they had this stuffed turkey that looked delish!!....but how could i not get fried chicken?!?! Life is hard!! Went with the chicken, which some friendly dude serving us told us it was straight out the fryer! Also had chicken PAN pie....made in a pan...and mashed potato. They have home made desserts like pies and peach cobbler, couldn't do it....dinner portions are alot! READY FOR THIS??? this was the juiciest, crispiest, yummiest piece of white meat i have ever had! Not sure if it was because it was fresh out the fryer, but every bite you could see the juices running.....yummmmmmmmmmmmmm so dang good!! Chicken pan pot.....delish!!!!....Every bit of what a pot pie should be.....great flavor....lots of chunky chicken!! Mashed Potato......tasted a little (dare i say) "boxish"....altho i whole heartedly don't want to believe that....these had something in them i wasn't to fond of, gravy on top was good! I also got hush puppies.....which were straight classic yum! We paid less than 20 bucks for 2 dinners...Mexican corn bread and a biscuit.....#WINNING!!! Friendly service, great food, good price.....cant wait to visit again!! Its in a complex, so parking is cool.

Been eating here since the 70s and it has not changed at all but still doesn't look out dated. The food is very good and is cheap for what you get. I am glad nothing has changed and it shouldn't. The desserts are some of my favorites and bring back memories of arguing with my Mom to eat my lemon meringue pie before dinner. If you live here then you know it is a treasure but if you are vacationing then try it please. This is also a very family friendly place. We used to gather here when my family vacationed but at different hotels and often took up five tables.

A great place to eat for cheap, especially if you have a large group with varying tastes. It's cafeteria style, so grab a tray and choose the variety of dishes on display as you go down the line. Each dish has a price on it and you pay at the end. Entrees include things like fried chicken, fried country steak, fish, pork chops. Sides include salads, mash potatoes, mac and cheese, broccoli, etc. There are salads and cold dishes as well as desserts at the end. The food is good but nothing gourmet. It's good value for your money. It's quick, so a great place for a no fuss dinner experience.

The K&W is a great cafeteria style restaurant with a few locations in Myrtle Beach. I've been there tons of times and there are several standard items that you can count on them having. You can choose exactly what you would like to eat and there are plenty of options for each of the following - appetizer/salad, meat, sides, veggies, dessert, bread, & beverages - pretty much in that order. Once you choose your food, they give you your ticket and you sit down at a table and they have servers going around to refill your drinks for you. You pay at a cashier before you leave the restaurant. It is very affordable and a great place to get a pretty good meal at a good price. It is a great option for families with kids when you don't want to eat fast food and don't want to pay a fortune to eat out.

The place is dated, the vegetables taste like they're straight out of a can. This is a slow dying chain. Roast beef was chewy, not tender.

I admit that I love K&W Cafeterias. The chain started in my home area in the 1930s, so I've been eating at them since I was a boy growing up in the Piedmont area of North Carolina. And if you're expecting something swanky, you won't find it at K&W. But you will find good southern cooking at a reasonable price. K&W Cafeterias differ in decor, but for the most part, the menu is the same. They carry the usual menu items including chicken, beef, pork and seafood, and they may have more than one variety (for example, fried chicken and baked chicken). Some of the signature items that the K&W offers daily includes turkey and dressing, fried chicken, chopped steak, chicken pan pie, roast beef, baked ham, and some type of fried fish. K&W offers a wide selection of vegetables every day, and has a large assortment of cold salads too. And if you're not counting calories, check out their varieties of breads. They usually have biscuits, rolls, corn bread, garlic bread, etc. And for those really not counting calories, check out their desserts. My favorites include the chocolate cream pie, buttered coconut, and egg custard. But they have many others to choose too (try the strawberry shortcake in season). The location on South Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach has always been clean every time we've been there, and the staff is extremely friendly. Your glasses will not go empty (the dining room staff offers plenty of refills, but if they are busy, you can get your own). We visit several times on every trip to Myrtle Beach. As far as price, I think you get good value for your money. You would spend the same amount of money at a fast food restaurant and not get anywhere near the variety or the taste. And for those that have complained in previous posts about the cafeteria atmosphere -- it is what it is; a cafeteria. It is basically "serve yourself" so if you're looking for someone to wait on you hand and foot, it won't be happening here. The staff is friendly and helpful, but it is a do-it-yourself restaurant, so that's what you should expect. My advice? Definitely have a meal or two at K&W and enjoy! We always do!

Wanted to take my kids to a cafeteria like the ones I went to growing up but no longer exist up north. Did not disappoint, all the wonderful entrees and Mac and cheese, turnip greens, fried okra happiness. Only downside was the hush puppies...they'd been sitting too long. Those really need to be eaten hot and fresh from the fryer to be worth the caloric damage...these were not. Other than that, how I'd love to have k&w back home!

Good food, good service, fair prices. What more do you want? Always stop in at least once when we visit Myrtle Beach. I always go for the baked spaghetti and the coconut cream pie for dessert. The wife got the baked chicken and the daughter got a vegetable plate. We were all ewwing and awwing over the fried chicken it looked so good, but skipped it due to our waistlines! It you want a good hot, sit down meal at a fair price then give K and W a try. Word of warning: in the summer months the lines get really long so come early or late to avoid the long lines.

Decent place to eat. Nothing fancy. Great prices. Lots of choices. I had the chicken fingers. They were okay. A little on the greasy side. My friends had the stuffed turkey with gravy and the baked chicken. Both liked their dishes. I would definitely go back for lunch any day.

Started coming here 30 yrs ago... today's 7 layer salad was totally water logged... awesome looking fried fish was nothing but a plate of greasy breading... basically went in the trash... Has gone way downhill

Best fried fish--for the money, in Myrtle Beach if you ask me! But K&W also offers a great variety of other la carte food: entrees, salads, rolls, desserts that will surely please any appetite. It's plain, down-home, good cooking and a very good value!! I always get their fresh, hot, fried fish and it never fails to please! All the seniors love this place--they know a good deal! Wish they offered wine! LOL!
